So we take the leftover fruit from the still and get it made into some delicious jams and marmalades using the services of Otway Kitchen in Colac.

The Otway Kitchen is a not for profit enterprise producing a wholesale range of traditional and gourmet jams, chutneys, pickles and relishes hand made in small batches to retain flavor and quality.

Their enterprise is kick-starting the careers of people with a disability who are learning new skills in our industrial kitchen and building confidence in a work environment.

All their products are free from artificial colours and additives which is better for you.

They provide a nurturing work environment in Colac, Victoria where their team is involved in the whole business process; they process the fresh ingredients to make the preserves, they label the jars, assist in packing orders and monitor the inventory.

Our supported employees are also involved in marketing and distributing our products to our customers and this provides a valuable learning experience for improving their self-esteem.

The Otway Kitchen is an initiative of genU.

And we distribute all of our used bottles to share cupboards around the Otways so people at home can use them to store cordials, sauces, water or use them as a vase so they don’t end up being wasted!

We ask you all to please reuse, reduce and recycle!

#reuse #recycle #repurpose
