Welcome to Otways Distillery – home of premium Australian handmade spirits, crafted in the heart of the Otways hinterland. I’m Sally Richardson, a passionate spirit maker, a nature lover, and a long-time local of this incredible region.

From Forrest to the Flavour Frontier

After moving to the beautiful Otways in 2014, I fell in love with the rich produce, the welcoming community, and the wild spirit of the land. I previously owned and ran the Forrest General Store, where I lived a busy life surrounded by friends, family, and of course, my beloved rescue dogs.

In 2019, I decided to turn my love for a good drink into something more – small-batch distilling. I teamed up with my friend Wayne from @bathtub_gin_co and began learning the craft of spirit-making. From day one, I knew I’d found my calling.

Handcrafted Spirits with a Local Soul

At Otways Distillery, every bottle of gin, vodka, or brandy cream is made with care, creativity, and a deep respect for the Otways. I use local botanicals and seasonal ingredients wherever possible to celebrate the flavours of our region. My dogs are always by my side, and my friends are often the first to sample new creations – it’s a true community effort.

Whether you’re enjoying a refreshing citrus vodka on a summer evening or sipping a rich oak-aged whisky by the fire, my hope is that each bottle brings a little Otways magic into your day.
